the Big Bus Trip 2000
to New Orleans

This year, our Optional Add-on is something
very special!

We've always made a point of providing an optional Add-On for travellers after Fan Fair where we could take advantage of group rates. With a number of past travellers expected to join us again in 2000 we’ve come up with a real treat for the 2000 tour. Previously we’ve been to Dollywood, Las Vegas, Dallas-Ft Worth, Los Angeles and New Orleans and after surveying all our past travellers and pooling their most requested destinations, we’ve come up with the BBT or Big Bus Trip.

Day 1. Saturday, after Fan Fair is over, we board our coach and head south out of Nashville. We visit the headquarters for the group Alabama in Ft Payne Alabama before travelling on to Montgomery, where Rosie is threatening to lead a torch light parade to spend Midnight In Montgomery by Hank Williams’ grave.

Day 2. After a visit to Hank’s new museum we travel across Alabama onto Meridian Mississippi where Jimmie Rodgers was born, visiting his museum. That afternoon we move onto to Vicksburg, the scene of the longest and one of the bloodiest campaigns of the American Civil War, visiting the battlefields the next morning.

Day 3. Today we travel down the Natchez Trace to New Orleans, maybe stopping in Natchez, and Baton Rouge along the way. Tonight you can hit the nightspots for some Cajun, Zydeco or Dixiland Jazz , or explore the cajun and seafood restaurants, and sample a real Jambalaya or Gumbo. We stay at the Hotel De La Poste right in the French Quarter of New Orleans, and only a block or two from Bourbon Street and Jackson Square.

Day 4. We visit the Plantation homes around the levee’s of New Orleans. At night, explore the delights of the French Quarter restaurants and night spots. The world famous Cafe Du Monde, Antoines, K-Paul’s or just a quiet walk along the river bank of the Mississippi.

Day 5. At leisure. Breakfast on beignets and cafe-au-lait (after all they invented them). Take an optional Swamp tour, learn the fascinating history of this crossroads city, about the Battle of New Orleans, the pirates of the caribbean, the Voodoo tales or enjoy listening to all the different music the Crescent City has to offer.

Day 6. Thursday we fly out to Los Angeles and home, or on to other private touring.
