We then turn south into Tennessee and on to Gatlinburg in the
Smoky Mountains where we stay tonight. We’ll take you to the top of “Old Smoky”, through the beautiful
wooded national park of North Carolina to the Indian reservation of Cherokee,
and you’ll be staying in the beautiful Alpine village of Gatlinburg where
you can wander through the quaint shops, or take the chair lift to the top of
the mountain. At night the hills
light up like fairyland and the restaurants and nightspots come alive.
Monday June 11
Tuesday June 12
By this stage you’ll have truly experienced the glory of Southern food,
but you’ll find room for just a bit more when we stop in Chattanooga on the
famous Chattanooga Choo-Choo. Don’t
worry, you’ll get to walk it off when we tour the beautiful Jack
Daniels Distillery.
After the tour, the good ol’ boys you see in those JD advertisements
will do some fine pickin’ while we sample a large amount of the famous
Tennessee whiskey, watch the lightenin’ bugs rise from the grassy slopes on
sundown, pitch a few horse shoes and sing and dance away the night.
Wednesday June 13
Just when you think the South can’t offer up anything more, we’ll hit Nashville, Music City USA, for the biggest Fan Fair Year ever. It’s true what they say, there are country music stars every which way, and we’ll start off by attending the TNN Country Music Awards Gala night where they come in all their finery. You’ll probably be pretty pumped up after the big awards show, but don’t worry our hotel, the brand new Hilton Suites, is right across the street and right in the middle of the downtown nightclub area, so you can party on if you want and just wander home when you wishFrom a recent press statement by CMA CEO Ed Benson...
In 2001, Fan Fair events shift from weekdays to a four-day weekend running Thursday through Sunday, June 14-17. The Main Stage shows will be held each night at Adelphia Coliseum (home of the AFC Champion Tennessee Titans), with the popular exhibits and autograph sessions during the day at the nearby Nashville Convention Center. New entertainment and amusement elements being planned for 2001 include afternoon concerts in Riverfront Park at the Riverfront Stages, along the banks of the Cumberland River, across from Adelphia Coliseum. An entirely new schedule format will give registrants more opportunities to visit area attractions and attend other activities planned in and around Fan Fair week. It will also make Fan Fair more accessible for local and regional attendance.Thursday June 14 to Sunday June 17
Fan Fair starts today, and it’s just a short walk from the hotel to go and meet the artists in their booths in the air-conditioned Convention Centre, and you can even pop back to your room for a nap if you’ve had a very late night. The big shows are at the Coliseum at night so you won’t ever have to bake in the noonday sun again. You can catch the shuttle, or you can walk if you have any energy left. We’ve booked the platinum tickets for you so you’ll have the best seats in the house.

You have Full Fan Fair registration with platinum level seating, and admission to the artist’s booths (where they meet fans and make photos) at the Convention Centre also across the street. There are daytime performances at the River Stage just down the block. Major night time shows at the Coliseum will have shuttle buses to get you there and back or it’s a short walk across the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the river. Out the front door of the hotel, straight across the road is Miss Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge bar, and the original Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, with shows all week. Just out the back door through the hotel gardens, is the all new Country Music Hall of Fame due to open in May of 2001.
